Zerodol SP: Uses, Side Effects, Mechanism, Dosage

Zerodol SP prepared by IPCA Laboratories is  the combination of three drugs, such as Aceclofenac, acetaminophen and serrathiopeptidase.

Acetaminophen, known as paracetamol, is used to treat pain and fever. It is usually used to relieve mild to moderate pain.

Aceclofenac (brand name: Airtal) belongs to a group of drugs, steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also used in fever, toothache headache, postoperative pain.

Serratopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme obtained from silkworm. It is used to reduce pain and inflammation associated with symptoms such as back pain, arthritis, tension headaches and migraines.

Composition

  • Aceclofenac 100 mg
  • Serratopeptidase 15 mg
  • Paracetamol 325 mg.

Mechanism of action

Aceclofenac blocks the effect of cyclooxygenase enzymes. These enzymes help with the production of other chemicals in the body called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced in damaged or injured areas and cause pain and swelling. The effect of cyclooxygenase enzymes to block the production of prostaglandins is reduced, thus relieving pain and inflammation.

Serratopeptidase helps the body break down proteins.

Paracetamol increases the pain threshold and increases blood flow through the skin, heat loss and sweating.
