Meteospasmyl (Simethicone & Alverine Citrate)

Meteospasmyl is the brand name of a combination of two active ingredients such as Alverine Citrate and Simethicone.

Simethicone is a medicine for flatulence. It works in the stomach and intestine to alter the surface tension of gas bubbles, which causes them to collapse and form larger bubbles. In this way, it is believed that the gas can be removed more easily by belching. Simethicone was approved by the FDA in 1952.

Alverine is a muscle relaxant. Smooth muscle is a type of muscle that is not under voluntary control; It is the muscle that is present in places like the intestine and the uterus. It is used for functional gastrointestinal disorders.

Composition of the active ingredients:

Meteospasmyl Capsule consists of the following active ingredients (salts)

  • Alverine Citrate – 60 mg
  • Simethicone – 300 mg

Meteospasmyl Uses:

Meteospasmyl Capsule is used to treat, control, prevent and improve the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:

  • Swelling in the stomach
  • Gastrointestinal spasms
  • Hiccup
  • Painful pressure
  • Painful periods

Mechanism of action

There are active ingredients in meteospsmyl, i.e Alverine Citrate and Simethicone.

  • Alverine citrate, which is a type of medication called smooth muscle relaxant. Alverine citrate acts directly on the smooth muscle of the bowel wall or uterus and makes it relax.
    Alverine citrate relaxes muscle cramps that occur in the intestine in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulosis. This relieves the pain sometimes associated with these conditions.
  • Simethicone is an antifoam administered orally. Reduces gas formation and facilitates its elimination from the digestive tract.

 

Meteospasmyl In pregnancy and lactation
