Ormeloxifene: Uses, Side Effects, Dosage

Ormeloxifene is among those selective estrogen receptor modulators, also called SERMs. These are a class of medicine that acts on the nitric oxide in the entire body. Ormeloxifene is primarily employed as a contraceptive pill but can also be used for its prevention, treatment, management & enhancement of uterine bleeding by exerting a contraceptive result to normalize the bleeding.

Precautions & Contraindication

Ormeloxifene shouldn’t be used if you have any of these issues such as:

Dose

  • Usual oral adult dose for Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is 60 mg two times every week for the 1st 12 week, then 60 mg/week up to next 12 week.
  • Usual dose for Contraception is 30 mg two times every week for the 1st 12 week, then 30 mg/week from 13 th week onwards.
  • Take 1st tab on the 1st day of menstrual cycle. Follow dose irrespective of menstrual periods.
