New Study Suggests A Cure for Brain Tumor

A study by the University of Michigan identifies why people with glioma, a type of tumor, tend to live much longer than others. The research was funded by the National Institutes of Health, which suggested that the combination of radiation therapy against cancer to block DNA repair could be an effective treatment. Some patients are less aggressive and can repair DNA better than others, but they are difficult to eliminate by radiation. The research article was published on February 13, 2019 in the journal Science Translation Magazine. Researchers have focused on low-grade gliomas. These gliomas are carriers of a disease that causes changes in a gene called isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1). These changes are found in about 50% of cases with low levels of primary glioma. Findings According to the research, patients with glioma have changes in IDH1 are mostly of young age. In addition, they live longer than patients with normal genes. The experiment was performed by replicating the patient’s tumor by genetic programming of mice to increase cancer cells in the brain. These cells carry pathogenic mutations in IDH1 as well as mutations in TP53 (a tumor suppressor gene) and ATRX (a DNA-protein complex remodeling gene). In terms of patients, the results of the study showed that mice programmed to develop brain cells tend to live longer than control mice when the tumors were programmed for normal IDH1. The study also showed that the IDH1 mutation had made the glioma cells less aggressive. Rabies can also be transmitted through a scratch inflicted by a dog or an animal if fresh saliva is on the nail that causes scratch. Airborne transmission of rabies may also occur when handling bat guano or in bat caves. Aerosol transmission has been implied in four reports of human rabies cases and documented in experimental work with animals as reported by FAO. MYTH #3: “Dog vaccines prevent your dog from getting rabies for only a few months”. Fact: According to FAO, if your dogs are vaccinated against rabies, they are protected for at least one year with each vaccine. Fact: Immediate and thorough washing and cleaning of a bite wound are ESSENTIAL. Flush the wound with a strong stream of water. Wash well with soap or detergent. MYTH #13: Human-to-human transmission of rabies not possible. Fact: Humans are mammals. Therefore, theoretically, human-to-human rabies transmission is possible. However, there are no laboratory-tested cases to confirm that this has actually happened. MYTH #14: The only thing I can do about the rabies problem is to make sure my pets are vaccinated annually. Fact: This is important, but only a good first start. There are other ways you can assist in controlling the disease: Do not let your dogs roam outside the house or yard without a muzzle and leash, even if they are vaccinated; Cooperate with your local vet and village head to register and vaccinate your dogs annually; Educate yourself and all members of your family about rabies. Israeli Scientists Predict 100% Cure for Cancer Within a Year

Not surprisingly, the development of insulin pills has been largely applied to protective coatings that survive the journey until you can deliver the insulin load. MIT researchers, however, have chosen a different approach. Several years ago, the team made a tiny needle-filled pill, which injected the drug into the case as it passed. Now the design has been refined to include only one needle, which injects the substance into the stomach, into the stomach. Once the needle tip is inserted, the insulin dissolves in the blood at a constant rate. It took about an hour in this test, but researchers can change the frequency. Once the payload has been dispensed, the capsule passes through the digestive system without damage. To make sure the needle touches and stays in the abdominal wall, the capsule has a tall, steep dome so it always turns on the flat side and rests where the needle comes out. According to the team, this design was inspired by the Leopard Turtle, with a uniform shell that allows it to stand up if it was ever on the back.
