Aceclofenac (brand name: Airtal tablet) belongs to a group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Airtal is manufactured and marketed by Highnoon Laboratories LTD. It is used to manage bone and joint disease like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (joints inflammation) and ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis).

Avoid it if you are allergic to any of the ingredient present in Airtal. Also, avoid it if you have a stomach problem, ulcer, bleeding or taking other medications.

This medicine is also not recommended in pregnant and lactating women.

You will need to take it with food and as prescribed by the healthcare provider. If you missed the dose, take it as soon as you remember and if its time for the next dose skip in the missed dose and continue with the old schedule.

Aceclofenac is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and circulates drug mainly as unchanged after oral administration. It is reported that it is very close to proteins (> 99%).

Mechanism of action

Aceclofenac (Airtal) works by blocking the action of natural substances called cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. These enzymes help form other chemicals in the body called prostaglandins. Airtal in pregnancy

It is a category B drug, which means that reproduction studies either in animals have shown no fetal risk. Airtal Dosage

The recommended dose for an adult is 200 mg per day in two separate doses of 100 mg, one tablet in the morning and one in the evening.

The usual dose in elderly, If an NSAID is considered necessary, the lowest effective dose and the shortest possible duration should be used. The patient should be monitored for gastrointestinal bleeding regularly during treatment with NSAIDs.

There are no clinical data on the use of aceclofenac in children and therefore its use in children under 18 years is not recommended.

Overdose
